Terms of Service

Last updated 2026-05-28.

These are the terms for using IceBox, software made by Bourbon Bro LLC (“we”, “us”). By installing or using IceBox you agree to them.

What IceBox is

IceBox is a Mac application that archives folders from your computer to your own AWS S3 Glacier Deep Archive bucket. It is software you license — we do not run a cloud service on your behalf.

License

We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use IceBox on Macs you own or control, for personal or business purposes. You may not resell, sublicense, or redistribute IceBox itself.

The license applies to the version of IceBox you purchased and to free updates we issue for that version. We reserve the right to release future major versions as separate paid products.

Your AWS account is your responsibility

IceBox uses an AWS account that you provide. You are responsible for everything that happens in your AWS account, including all charges. This includes:

  • Storage costs for archives.
  • Retrieval and bandwidth costs for restores.
  • Any charges resulting from misconfiguration, accidental uploads, or AWS account compromise.

We are not party to your contract with Amazon Web Services. We don’t see your AWS bill, and we have no ability to refund AWS charges.

If you provide IceBox with incorrect AWS credentials, lose access to your AWS account, or your account is suspended by AWS, IceBox cannot help you recover your archives.

No warranty

IceBox is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. No software is perfect, and archival storage is inherently a multi-party system (your Mac, the network, AWS). We make no guarantee that archives will be retrievable, that uploads will complete, or that the software will operate uninterrupted or error-free.

You agree that you are responsible for keeping additional copies of any data you cannot afford to lose. Do not rely on IceBox as your only copy of irreplaceable data.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for any claim arising from or relating to IceBox is limited to the amount you paid us for the software in the twelve months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, including loss of data, lost profits, business interruption, or AWS charges, even if advised of the possibility.

Some jurisdictions don’t allow certain warranty disclaimers or liability limits. Where that’s the case, the disclaimers and limits above apply only to the extent permitted.

Acceptable use

Don’t use IceBox to archive content that is illegal where you live, that infringes someone else’s intellectual property, or that violates someone else’s privacy. We may decline to provide updates or support for clearly illegal use.

Mac App Store and TestFlight

If you purchased IceBox through the Mac App Store, the Apple Media Services Terms also apply to your purchase. Apple handles your payment, refunds, and Family Sharing. We do not see your billing information.

If you obtained IceBox through TestFlight, you understand that it is pre-release software and may contain bugs, change without notice, or stop working when the TestFlight build expires.

Updates and changes

We may update these terms as IceBox evolves. The current version is always at https://useicebox.com/terms. Substantive changes will be noted in the Changelog. Continued use of IceBox after a change indicates acceptance.

Termination

You can stop using IceBox at any time by uninstalling it. Your archives in your AWS bucket are unaffected; you can read them with any S3-compatible tool.

If you materially violate these terms, we may stop providing updates or support to your installation. The provisions of these terms that should reasonably survive (license restrictions, warranty disclaimer, liability limit, governing law) will continue to apply.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of [your state of incorporation], United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the state and federal courts located in [your state of incorporation].
